The Independent National Electoral Commission has accredited 98 observer groups for the Ekiti State governorship election scheduled for June 20, 2026.

According to the commission, the observers include 96 domestic and two foreign organisations, drawn from civil society, professional bodies, and institutions with expertise in governance, human rights, gender advocacy, youth development, and peacebuilding.

Notable domestic groups include Centre for Democracy and Development West Africa, Yiaga Africa, CLEEN Foundation, Nigerian Women Trust Fund, and Nigerian Bar Association.

The foreign observer groups are AUDA-NEPAD Nigeria and Nouvel Perspective

INEC stated that the presence of observers is part of its commitment to transparency and accountability, urging all accredited bodies to remain non-partisan and professional in their activities.

Meanwhile, the commission announced that the third phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) will run from May 11 to July 10, 2026, giving eligible Nigerians another opportunity to register, transfer details, or replace lost voter cards.

The commission also scheduled the display of the voters’ register for claims and objections from July 23 to July 29, 2026, describing it as critical to ensuring the accuracy and credibility of the electoral process.

INEC reaffirmed its readiness to conduct a credible and transparent election, urging citizens to participate actively in the registration exercise.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
