ELECT LEADERS WHO PRIORITISE LIVING WAGE, NNPP URGES WORKERS

The New Nigeria People’s Party has urged Nigerian workers to use their voting power in the 2027 general elections to elect leaders committed to improving their welfare through a living wage and people-oriented policies.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, made the call in a statement issued in Abuja to mark the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration.

The party said the appeal comes amid growing economic pressure on workers, including rising inflation, high transportation and energy costs, and concerns over the widening gap between wages and the cost of living.

Johnson stressed that beyond commendations, workers must begin to assert their political strength by supporting leaders who prioritise their welfare.

He said workers should move beyond survival and embrace political organisation to ensure that future leaders implement policies that reduce the cost of living and invest in social safety nets and infrastructure.

The NNPP added that workers’ resilience should not replace the need for prosperity, noting that Nigerians deserve a system that works for the benefit of all citizens.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to championing the interests of ordinary Nigerians and improving their quality of life.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
