EPL: AMORIM SETS UNWANTED RECORD AS MAN UNITED FALL 1-0 TO ARSENAL

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has entered the Premier League record books for the wrong reasons following his side’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday.

A first-half header from Riccardo Calafiori sealed all three points for the visitors, leaving the Red Devils frustrated despite showing signs of improvement compared to last season.

However, the result meant Amorim reached an unwanted milestone. According to OptaJoe, the Portuguese tactician has now lost 15 of his first 28 Premier League matches in charge (seven wins, six draws). This makes him the fastest manager to hit that many defeats in the competition — outside of newly promoted clubs — since Paul Hart with Portsmouth in 2009 (27 games).

United’s defensive struggles continue to haunt them. Since the start of the 2023/24 season, the Red Devils have conceded the most goals from corners (23), while Arsenal top the chart for scoring the most from corners (31).

With pressure mounting, Amorim will be desperate to turn things around quickly and restore United’s winning mentality.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
