EPL: CARRAGHER BACKS ARTETA, SAYS ARSENAL STILL STRUGGLING WITH CREATIVITY

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has backed Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s assessment that the Gunners are yet to solve their creativity problem against top sides.

Arsenal fell 1-0 to Liverpool on Sunday in the Premier League after a thunderous 83rd-minute strike from Dominik Szoboszlai, handing the Reds all three points and an early edge in the title race.

Speaking after the game, Arteta expressed disappointment at his team’s inability to make the most of their few opportunities. Carragher, analysing the match on Sky Sports, agreed with the Spaniard, insisting the Gunners are facing the same issues as last season.

“Arsenal’s problem is creating. That was the problem for them last season: they don’t create enough,” Carragher said.
“Yes, they’ve brought in Zubimendi, Eze, and Gyokeres up front. But after three games, especially in the two away matches, nothing has changed. They remain heavily reliant on set-pieces and don’t create enough from open play.”

The defeat was Arsenal’s first loss of the 2025/26 Premier League season after three games, raising fresh concerns about their ability to compete consistently with the league’s strongest teams.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper David Raya said he could not stop Szoboszlai’s stunning effort due to the Premier League’s new match ball, which he claimed moved unpredictably in the air.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
