Former Arsenal midfielder, Emmanuel Petit, has expressed confidence that Mikel Arteta’s side can lift the Premier League trophy this season — ahead of leaders Liverpool.

The Gunners currently sit second on the table after a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa, a result that left them six points behind Jurgen Klopp’s men, who also have a game in hand.

Despite this, Petit insists Arsenal remain strong contenders for the title. Speaking on Sky Sports, he outlined three key reasons the North London club could edge Liverpool:

Fixture Advantage:
Unlike Liverpool, Arsenal are already out of both domestic cups, allowing them to focus fully on the Premier League and Champions League.

Injury Boost:
Petit noted that many of Arsenal’s injured stars are set to return soon, providing Arteta with fresh options for the decisive second half of the season.

Liverpool’s Struggles:
The Frenchman pointed out that Klopp’s side have shown defensive vulnerabilities in recent weeks, conceding goals regularly and looking less confident.

Petit also added that with Bukayo Saka close to returning and the transfer window still open, Arsenal are in a strong position to reinforce their squad if needed.

“Liverpool and other teams are stretched by many competitions. Arsenal’s focus and returning players give them a huge edge,” Petit stressed.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
