EPL: I’M NOT EXPECTING TO BE SACKED, SAYS CARRICK
Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick says he is continuing his duties as normal despite growing uncertainty over his future following Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth.
The loss at Old Trafford extended United’s winless run to eight matches across all competitions, increasing pressure on the manager.
Asked whether he expected to be dismissed, Carrick said: “I’m not expecting anything in particular, to be honest. I’m carrying on as normal.”
The former United midfielder accepted responsibility for the team’s results and maintained that his decisions would always be guided by the club’s interests.
Goals from Rayan, Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson secured victory for Bournemouth, leaving United searching for a response to their poor form.
Carrick also faced questions about leaving captain Bruno Fernandes out of the starting line-up. He said the decision was based on football considerations.
Despite the disappointing result, supporters continued to show their appreciation for Carrick as he left the pitch.
United are due to face Chelsea next Saturday, with attention now turning to whether Carrick will remain in charge for the trip.
