Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has aimed at Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, holding them partly responsible for the club’s recent slump in form.

Liverpool have endured a rough spell, losing four consecutive Premier League matches, including a 3-2 defeat to Brentford that has left them seventh on the table and seven points adrift of leaders Arsenal.

Speaking about the Reds’ struggles, Rooney expressed concerns about the team’s lack of leadership and the performances of their senior players.

Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, they’ve signed new deals, but I don’t think they’ve really led that team this season,” Rooney said.
I think body language tells you a lot, and we’re seeing slightly different body language from the two of them. They are the top two players in that team, and if their body language is not right, that affects everyone else.

Rooney added that Salah’s recent dip in form is a “big concern” for Liverpool fans, warning that both stars need to step up if the team hopes to regain consistency and confidence.

Liverpool’s next fixture will be a crucial opportunity for Jürgen Klopp’s men to bounce back and prove their title credentials as the pressure mounts on the Anfield side.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
