EX-KEBBI GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE ISA GALAUDU DUMPS PDP

Former Kebbi State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Isa Galaudu, has officially resigned from the party.

Galaudu, who represented Kebbi North Senatorial District between 2011 and 2015 and later served as Chief of Staff to the Senate President, confirmed his decision in a letter dated August 20, 2025. The letter was addressed to the PDP ward chairman in Augie North, Alhaji Muhammadu Aliyu Danbuga.

Explaining his reasons, Galaudu said the PDP in Kebbi has lost its identity, claiming it is now “controlled by politicians of the national ruling party” and has been “substantially obliterated.”

The former lawmaker was the PDP’s flagbearer in the 2019 governorship election in Kebbi State, where he contested against the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Although Galaudu did not immediately announce his next political move, his resignation is seen as another major blow to the PDP in Kebbi, a state where the opposition has struggled to maintain relevance in recent years.

Political observers are now watching closely to see if the former senator will pitch his tent with another party ahead of the 2027 elections.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
