EX-KWARA POLY STUDENT KILLED IN SUSPECTED CULT CLASH NEAR CAMPUS
Authorities at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, have confirmed the death of a former student, Oyelade Habeeb Olawale, following a violent confrontation involving suspected rival cult groups near the campus on Tuesday.
Olawale, a former Civil Engineering student, was reportedly attacked during a clash triggered by ex-students linked to cult activities who returned to the area. The incident caused panic before the institution’s security operatives intervened.
Halimat Garba, the institution’s Public Relations Officer, described the killing as “regrettable” and confirmed that several suspects have been arrested and handed over to security agencies for investigation.
She assured the public that normalcy has been restored and academic activities are continuing without disruption. Garba also emphasized that the school remains committed to curbing violence and safeguarding students.
