A former Senate Chief Whip and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Hosea Agboola, has declared support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027 after leading over 1,000 Peoples Democratic Party members into the APC.

Agboola, popularly known as Alleluyah, made the declaration during an Ibadanland Stakeholders’ Summit organised by the Alleluyah Reformed Movement at A3 Hotel, Sango, Ibadan, on Wednesday.

He said the defectors were drawn from the 11 local government areas that make up Ibadanland.

According to him, the movement has built a strong grassroots structure capable of delivering between four and five million votes for Tinubu in the next presidential election.

“As it stands, we can conveniently deliver a minimum of four million votes and as much as five million for President Tinubu. We are not few; we are many, and what you are seeing here today is only a fraction of our strength across Ibadanland and beyond,” Agboola said.

He dismissed claims that the PDP had not lost members, insisting that the turnout at the summit showed a growing shift in political loyalty.

“There have been claims that nobody is leaving the PDP, but what we have here today speaks for itself. These are committed members who have decided to align with a progressive agenda. We have over 1,000 PDP members joining the APC today, as you can see,” he added.

Agboola was the only PDP senator from the South-West between 2011 and 2015 before later joining the APC in October 2025.

He also served as Chairman of the Advisory Council to Governor Seyi Makinde from 2019 to 2023 and had previously held commissioner positions under former Governors Rashidi Ladoja and the late Adebayo Alao-Akala.

Also speaking, Chairman of the Alleluyah Reformed Movement in Ibadanland, Dauda Lawal, represented by Yahya Akingbile, said the group fully supports Tinubu’s administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda beyond 2027.

“The movement emerged in August 2025 following persistent internal crises within the PDP at both state and national levels. We could no longer cope with the level of indiscipline, impunity, and unresolved conflicts within the party. After extensive consultations, we resolved to chart a new course and align with the APC,” he said.

Lawal stated that the group’s decision was influenced by what it described as visible federal projects, economic reforms, and governance policies strengthening grassroots development.

He said the movement had structures across all 11 local government areas in Ibadanland and the 33 local governments in Oyo State.

“We are not just joining the APC; we are bringing structure, numbers, and strategy. Our goal is to ensure victory for the party at all levels in 2027,” he said.

The group also dismissed the need for political coalitions in Oyo State, insisting the APC now has enough internal strength to win elections independently.

Secretary of the movement, Saleem Jelili, added that more than 1,000 defectors attended physically, while many others were unable to attend because of logistics.

The summit attracted party leaders, community figures, artisans, and political stakeholders from across Ibadanland, all pledging support for the APC and Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
