EXXONMOBIL FOUNDATION EXPANDS STEM PROGRAMME FOR NIGERIAN STUDENTS
The ExxonMobil Foundation has announced a major expansion of its Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education programme, aiming to reach more students across Nigeria.
The initiative will provide enhanced learning resources, teacher training, and hands-on laboratory experiences to boost interest and proficiency in STEM subjects. The expansion is expected to benefit thousands of students in public and community schools, particularly in underserved regions.
Officials from the Foundation emphasised the critical role of STEM education in developing a skilled workforce capable of driving innovation and supporting Nigeria’s economic diversification goals. The programme includes mentorship opportunities, competitions, and exposure to real-world applications of STEM concepts.
Partners in the education sector welcomed the development, noting that such interventions are essential for closing skill gaps and preparing young Nigerians for future opportunities in technology and industry.
The ExxonMobil Foundation has a long history of supporting education initiatives in Nigeria, with previous programmes focusing on literacy, infrastructure, and scholarship opportunities.
Stakeholders believe the expanded STEM programme will contribute significantly to human capital development and long-term national progress.
