The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has called for stronger collaboration with the media to improve consumer protection awareness across Nigeria.

The commission said effective media engagement was important in educating consumers about their rights and helping the public understand available channels for reporting unfair business practices.

The FCCPC also emphasised the need for accurate and timely reporting of consumer-related issues, noting that increased public awareness could encourage consumers to demand better products and services.

The commission urged journalists and media organisations to continue reporting issues affecting consumers while providing the public with relevant information on their rights and responsibilities.

It added that closer collaboration with the media would help promote transparency, accountability and fair competition in the Nigerian marketplace.

The FCCPC said it remained committed to protecting consumers and ensuring that businesses complied with relevant laws and regulations governing competition and consumer rights.
