FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO CREATE CULTURAL VILLAGES ACROSS THE COUNTRY
The Federal Government has unveiled plans to establish Renewed Hope Cultural Villages nationwide to safeguard Nigeria’s cultural heritage, promote tourism, and stimulate economic growth.
Abiola Abdulkareem, Special Assistant to the Minister of Art, Culture, and Tourism, Hannatu Musawa, shared this development while speaking to journalists on Monday in Ilorin, Kwara State.
He stated that the initiative, which has received approval from the National Economic Council, will be executed in collaboration with state governments. The project aims to transform historic sites into creative hubs, fostering job creation in the arts and entertainment industries.
Abdulkareem emphasized that the project's success depends on the active involvement of state governments, local communities, and key stakeholders. He noted that through collaboration, Nigeria can harness the transformative potential of its arts, culture, tourism, and creative industries to drive sustainable development and strengthen social cohesion. He stated that the initiative will prioritize the restoration and preservation of historic sites, monuments, palaces, and artifacts while also promoting cultural education and skill development in local crafts.
Abdulkareem highlighted that the project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and is expected to create thousands of jobs while boosting revenue through tourism and creative industries.
He reiterated Musawa’s dedication to revitalizing Nigeria’s economy through strategic programs and policies, fostering collaborations within the creative industry.
"This initiative will not only enhance Nigeria’s creative sector but also play a crucial role in economic diversification and national development," he stated.
