FEMI OTEDOLA EXPANDS LUXURY PORTFOLIO WITH £53 MILLION LONDON MANSION PURCHASE
Nigerian billionaire businessman Femi Otedola has reportedly acquired a luxury mansion in London worth £53 million, further cementing his status as one of Africa’s most prominent investors with global assets.
According to a report by Bloomberg, the property deal was finalised late last year and ranks among the latest multimillion-pound transactions in London’s elite real estate market.
The mansion is situated in St John’s Wood, one of the UK capital’s most prestigious residential neighbourhoods, known for its privacy, luxury detached homes and close proximity to Regent’s Park and the famous Lord's Cricket Ground.
Reports indicate that the 10-bedroom property, originally built in 2016, comes with several high-end features including a private cinema, spa and cigar room. The mansion was previously listed for £75 million in 2020 before the eventual sale.
The latest acquisition adds to Otedola’s growing portfolio of luxury investments and global assets. The businessman currently serves as chairman and majority shareholder of First HoldCo Plc, the parent company of First Bank, with interests spanning banking, energy, insurance brokerage and shipping.
Market analysts say the purchase reflects the continued attraction of London’s luxury property sector to ultra-high-net-worth investors despite rising taxes and changes to foreign ownership regulations in the UK.
Over the years, upscale London districts such as Belgravia, Chelsea and St John’s Wood have remained hotspots for wealthy international buyers seeking prestige properties and long-term investments.
The development also highlights the growing presence of Nigerian business elites in the UK’s luxury real estate market. In 2025, Roosevelt Ogbonna, chief executive officer of Access Bank, was reportedly linked to the purchase of a £15 million property in Hampstead.
For many wealthy investors, London continues to represent more than just a real estate destination. The city remains a symbol of prestige, financial security and global influence, attracting billionaires and executives from across Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
