Nigerian billionaire and philanthropist Femi Otedola has achieved another milestone — this time, in the world of books.

His memoir, Making It Big: Lessons from a Life in Business, has surged to the top of Amazon’s “Starting a Business” category, officially making him the platform’s No.1 best-selling author in the Business category.

Released on August 18, 2025, the book quickly gained momentum, surpassing works by global business heavyweights such as Steven Bartlett (The Diary of a CEO), Simon Sinek (Start with Why), and Blake Masters (Zero to One). It also ranks alongside classics like Phil Knight’s Shoe Dog, Alex Hormozi’s $100M Offers, and Cal Newport’s Slow Productivity.

Just 48 hours after launch, Making It Big had already climbed to No. 3 in Amazon’s business memoir rankings, according to Nairametrics. Within weeks, it claimed the top spot, a feat that underscores the strong demand for authentic African entrepreneurial stories.

In the memoir, Otedola shares key lessons from decades of building businesses in energy, finance, and infrastructure, weaving together personal experiences with practical advice for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Available in both paperback (£14.99) and digital formats, the book is attracting readers worldwide who are eager for fresh perspectives from African business leaders.

Otedola’s success as an author not only cements his place among global business thinkers but also signals a growing appetite for African voices in the global conversation on entrepreneurship and leadership.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
