The Federal Government has announced the immediate commencement of academic activities at the newly established Federal Technical College, Eke, in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The initiative is part of the government’s efforts to expand technical education and develop a skilled workforce capable of supporting Nigeria’s industrial and technological growth.

Speaking to prospective pioneer students and their parents at the college’s supplementary examination centre on Monday, the Principal, Gideon Angbeye, said the institution was established to help address the country’s skills gap.

Angbeye disclosed that the pioneer students would receive technical education completely free of charge under the government-funded programme.

He said the government would cover tuition fees, provide school uniforms and supply students with nutritious daily meals throughout their studies.

The principal also explained that the college’s curriculum would focus heavily on practical training. TVET 1 will introduce students to basic theory and technical principles, while TVET 2 will focus on intensive practical training and workshop activities.

According to him, TVET 3 will combine advanced practical skills with academic theory to give students broader technical competence.

Angbeye added that the college was developing partnerships with industrial research institutions, including the Projects Development Institute and the Scientific Equipment Development Institute, as well as other corporate organisations.

He urged the pioneer students to take advantage of the opportunity and use their training to contribute to national development.

The principal also thanked the Eke community for its cooperation and support in helping the Federal Ministry of Education establish the institution and commence operations.
