The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has revealed that the Federal Government has tasked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) with auditing and verifying all ongoing and completed federal road projects nationwide.

Umahi made the announcement on Thursday during the reopening of the Keffi Flyover, which collapsed on July 4, 2025, after being struck by a container-laden trailer carrying an excavator.

The minister explained that the involvement of these anti-corruption agencies aims to promote transparency, ensure accountability, and boost public confidence in the management of federally funded infrastructure projects.

He said: “I want the public to know that I submitted all projects undertaken by the President and the Ministry of Works since the beginning of his administration to the ICPC. We requested that they visit every state, including Abuja, to examine and verify these projects and take necessary actions. This process is unprecedented, and I informed the President publicly about it yesterday. I am proud of this initiative.

“We have also shared the same project list with the EFCC. They have not yet fully deployed to all states. We remain committed to transparency under President Bola Tinubu. I enjoy this job because I value hard work.”

Umahi further stated that President Tinubu has acknowledged outstanding contractor debts and established a committee to review and address them.

“Contractors need not stage protests. Payments will be processed, and all dues will be settled before December 20,” he assured.

He also commended the swift approval of funds for the Keffi Flyover repair, noting that the President released the required funds within 24 hours of being briefed—a speed of response he said is unprecedented.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
