FG SHUTS DOWN 47 FEDERAL UNITY COLLEGES AFTER RISING TERRORIST ATTACKS
FG Closes 47 Unity Colleges Amid Escalating Terror Attacks on Schools
In a decisive move to safeguard students and staff across the country, the Federal Government has ordered the immediate shutdown of 47 Federal Unity Colleges following a disturbing rise in terrorist attacks on schools.
This development comes on the heels of recent kidnappings in Kebbi and Niger States, where armed groups targeted schools and abducted several students, heightening fear across affected communities.
According to an official notice issued by Hajia Binta Abdulkadir, Director of Secondary Education in the Office of the Minister of Education, all principals of Unity Colleges have been instructed to close their schools without delay. The directive was approved by the Minister of Education as part of emergency security measures.
The notice stated in part:
“Sequel to the recent security challenges in some parts of the country and the need to prevent any security breach, the Honourable Minister of Education has approved the immediate closure of 47 federal unity colleges.”
