The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has intensified its drive to bridge Nigeria’s housing deficit, securing prime lands in 28 states as part of a major nationwide expansion of affordable housing projects.

This initiative, aligned with the Renewed Hope Housing Programme of President Bola Tinubu, aims to establish a stronger presence across all regions of the country. Speaking at the groundbreaking of the FHA Green City Estate in Wasa, Abuja, on Wednesday, Executive Director of Estate Services, Ezekiel Etuk, who represented the Managing Director, revealed that governors in the 28 states have allocated lands to the authority.

“We have visited 28 states... and commenced construction in several, with groundbreaking ceremonies held in Akwa Ibom, Abia, Kaduna, Abeokuta (Ogun), and now here in Abuja,” Etuk stated. The agency has also procured contracts for multiple projects and is fast-tracking delivery.

The expansion includes ongoing work on a 336-unit estate in Bwari, Abuja, targeted for completion before the end of 2026. In the past 26 months, the FHA has successfully commissioned several previously stalled projects, including estates in Ibadan and various Abuja locations, alongside digitalisation reforms to secure property records and automate operations.

President of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), Oba Akintoye Adeoye, hailed the project as a boost to economic growth, job creation, and private sector collaboration. Representatives from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation emphasised its role in addressing long-standing housing shortages.

This aggressive land acquisition and project rollout underscore the FHA’s commitment to delivering quality, affordable homes nationwide amid rising demand.
