A fire outbreak on Thursday afternoon has destroyed properties worth millions of naira at a residential building located at No. 1, Road 10, Adepoju Area, Ibadan.

The incident affected one of the flats in the building, leaving behind significant damage and losses for the occupants. According to reports gathered at the scene, the inferno consumed valuables estimated to be worth millions of naira.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident in a statement released Thursday evening.

Akinwande explained that firefighters responded promptly and were able to prevent the flames from spreading further within the building.

“Upon arrival, our officers quickly swung into action and restricted the fire from spreading to the second flat,” he said.

He added that men of the Federal Fire Service, Ibadan Command, later joined the operation, and together, both agencies successfully extinguished the fire.

The swift intervention of the fire service teams prevented what could have been an even greater disaster for residents of the area.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
