Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has departed Abuja for Daura, Katsina State, to attend the funeral of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

She will be joined by top government officials and dignitaries who have also traveled to Daura to pay their last respects.

The late President’s remains are expected to arrive in Katsina by midday today from London, with the burial scheduled for later in the afternoon in Daura, following Islamic rites.

Buhari passed away on Sunday in London after battling an undisclosed illness. Since the announcement of his death, tributes have poured in from across Nigeria and beyond, recognizing his role and service to the nation.

In honor of the former leader, the federal government and governors of the North West states have declared today, Tuesday, a public holiday.

Similarly, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) shut down activities at its national headquarters, while the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) suspended political engagements nationwide for three days to mourn Buhari.

The nation continues to reflect on Buhari’s legacy as Nigerians from all walks of life unite to bid him farewell.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
