FOLLOWING LEICESTER’S RELEGATION, THE FUTURE OF WILFRED NDIDI IS IN DOUBT.
On Sunday, Nigerian midfielder Ndidi and Leicester City were relegated from the Premier League after suffering a 1-0 loss to Liverpool at the King Power Stadium. Trent Alexander-Arnold, coming off the bench, netted the only goal 14 minutes from time, as Liverpool moved closer to securing a record-tying 20th English top-flight title.
Before Leicester's relegation, Ndidi was the subject of transfer rumors, with several clubs eyeing him. He has been linked to Galatasaray, Monaco, and Atletico Madrid.
Although Barcelona was reportedly interested in him last summer, Ndidi opted to sign a new contract with Leicester. Despite his current contract running until 2027, he is expected to leave the Premier League side in 2025.
Ndidi has faced a tough season with the Foxes, particularly missing several matches due to injury. However, he still managed to feature in 24 games, contributing four assists.
He also played a crucial role in their championship-winning campaign in 2023/24, scoring four goals and providing five assists in 32 appearances.
The 28-year-old was a key member of the team that won their first-ever FA Cup in the 2020/21 season, followed by victory in the FA Community Shield.
Ndidi might be looking to move a different team in order to play topflight football.
