Nigeria has lost one of its most respected elder statesmen. Chief Audu Ogbeh, a former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the age of 78.

In a statement released by the family, they described Ogbeh as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who lived a life marked by integrity, service, and commitment to the nation.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Chief Audu Ogbeh,” the family wrote. “He departed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, service, and dedication to our nation and community. We are comforted by the many lives he touched and the example he set.”

Ogbeh’s distinguished career in public service spanned decades. Beyond his ministerial role, he was widely respected for his advocacy for rural development and his efforts to boost Nigeria’s agricultural sector. His leadership and dedication left a lasting impact on policy and community growth.

The family has requested privacy during this period of mourning and has promised to share details of the funeral arrangements in due course.

Chief Audu Ogbeh’s passing marks the end of an era for Nigerian politics and agriculture, but his contributions will continue to inspire generations to come.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
