Tragedy struck in Benue State as suspected armed herders launched fresh attacks on several communities in Tombu Council Ward, Logo Local Government Area, leaving four people dead and properties destroyed.

The incident, which occurred on Monday, August 25, saw villages set ablaze and residents forced to flee for safety.

According to community leader Joseph Anawah, the attackers stormed farmlands on the outskirts of Ayilamo settlement, killing Mr.

Kaananfam Nyamikume, a farmer from Tse Jigam village, Mr. Mson from Guma LGA, and a local medicine seller. Another victim, Mr. Saaondo Mundu Azaye, a resident of Tse Azaye, was also confirmed dead.

On Tuesday, anxious residents and youths from Ayilamo and surrounding communities went in search of missing persons. They recovered two bodies near Tse Uza settlement, though two other farmers remain unaccounted for.

Anawah further alleged that the attackers were camped in deserted settlements across the Mbawien clan in Tombu Council Ward, including Tse Ibor and Tse Ukpukuru in Anyibe.

The attack has once again heightened fears in Logo LGA, a region long plagued by clashes between armed herders and farming communities. Residents are calling on security agencies and government authorities to urgently intervene before the violence escalates further.
