FRANCE, NIGERIA DEEPEN PARTNERSHIP TO STRENGTHEN AGRICULTURAL VALUE CHAINS

France and Nigeria have signed a new agreement to strengthen agricultural value chains, focusing on technology transfer, capacity building, and sustainable development in the sector.

The partnership, facilitated through diplomatic channels and development agencies, aims to enhance productivity, reduce post-harvest losses, and improve market access for Nigerian farmers and agribusinesses. Key areas of cooperation include modern farming techniques, food processing, storage solutions, and climate-smart agriculture practices.

French experts will provide technical support and training, while Nigerian stakeholders will benefit from access to innovative tools and financing opportunities. Officials from both countries expressed optimism that the collaboration will boost food security, create jobs, and increase export potential for high-value agricultural products.

The agreement aligns with Nigeria’s efforts to diversify its economy and achieve self-sufficiency in food production. It also supports France’s broader strategy of strengthening ties with African nations in key development sectors.

Stakeholders welcomed the partnership as a significant step towards modernising Nigeria’s agriculture and building resilient value chains. Implementation is expected to commence with pilot projects in selected states.
