FRESH FIRE HITS FOUR-STOREY PLAZA ON LAGOS ISLAND HOURS AFTER MARINA BLAZE
Another fire outbreak has rocked Lagos Island, this time at Emab Plaza, a four-storey commercial building located behind Mandilas.
The incident occurred late Tuesday night, around 9:00 p.m., sending shop owners and residents into panic.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire reportedly started from the fourth floor of the plaza before spreading to other sections of the building.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service quickly mobilized firefighters from Ebute Elefun and Oniru stations to battle the flames.
Deputy Controller General of the agency, Olajide Ogabi, confirmed around 10:00 p.m. that firefighting and rescue operations were ongoing.
This latest inferno comes just hours after another blaze gutted a six-storey building at Marina, Lagos Island, earlier in the day. In that incident, eight trapped occupants were successfully rescued.
While the cause of both fires remains unclear, the frequency of such incidents has raised concerns over safety compliance and the fire preparedness of commercial hubs across Lagos Island.
