FROM LAGOS TO THE WORLD: REMA SURPASSES WIZKID, SETS NEW AFRICAN BILLBOARD RECORD
Nigerian singer Rema’s debut album, Rave & Roses, sets record as the longest-charting African album on Billboard World Albums Chart, marking 170 weeks.
Rema’s Rave & Roses surpasses the previous record held by Wizkid’s Made In Lagos, which spent 164 weeks on the chart. Other top African albums include Tems’ Born In The Wild (79 weeks), Burna Boy’s Love, Damini (63 weeks), and Fela Kuti’s The Best Of The Black President (45 weeks).
In addition, Rema secured his second entry on the Billboard Hot 100 this week as Secondhand, featuring Don Toliver, debuted at number 29. Tems also made her Hot 100 debut this week with What You Need, bringing her total entries to seven, tying the African record alongside Burna Boy and South African group Seether.
