The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in all 57 chairmanship positions across Lagos State in the local government elections held on Saturday. The party also secured 375 out of 376 councillorship seats, according to results announced on Sunday by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).

The APC swept the polls in all 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), reaffirming its dominance in the state’s grassroots political landscape.

In a rare upset, however, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) claimed victory in Ward D of the Yaba LCDA. PDP candidate Babatunde Dosunmu, a former APC member who defected shortly before the election, defeated his former party in that ward.

LASIEC described the election process as largely peaceful, although there were concerns about low voter turnout and isolated reports of irregularities in some locations.

Swearing-in ceremonies for the newly elected chairmen and councillors are scheduled to take place later this month.
