“FUNKE AKINDELE IS MY NUMBER ONE MENTOR” — BBNAIJA’S IMISI OPENS UP
Winner of the recently concluded Big Brother Naija Season 10, Opeyemi Ayanwale, popularly known as Imisi, has expressed her desire to collaborate with celebrated filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele, whom she regards as her foremost mentor in Nollywood.
The 23-year-old reality TV star shared this during a media chat held in Lagos on Tuesday after receiving her ₦150 million cash prize and an SUV.
Imisi, who became known for her vibrant personality and natural acting talent on the show, said her participation in Big Brother Naija rekindled her passion for film and performance.
“People saw a lot of my acting side in the house. Even my fellow housemates said I’m a natural actress. I’m ready to do more.
Funke Akindele is my number one mentor, and I really hope to work with her someday. I also admire Bimbo Ademoye and Bolaji Ogunmola — they inspire me a lot,” she said.
Reflecting on her win, Imisi described the moment as “overwhelming,” noting that she is still coming to terms with the massive love and support she has received across the country.
Addressing suggestions that ethnic support contributed to her victory, she said:
“Maybe. Yoruba people are very supportive of their own, so that might’ve played a role. But honestly, I believe people connected with my realness and vulnerability.”
Imisi also thanked her Celestial Church community for their prayers and support during her time in the house, adding that she intends to leverage her fame to build a lasting career in the entertainment industry.
“Fame is new to me, but I’m ready to learn and grow. I’ll seek mentorship and be intentional about my next steps,” she concluded.
