Nollywood actress Funke Akindele and other passengers were left stranded for hours at London’s Gatwick Airport following a prolonged delay involving an Air Peace flight.

Akindele raised concerns on social media, stating that passengers had been waiting since early morning without clear communication from the airline. She said the delay was initially attributed to a bird strike, with assurances that accommodation would be provided.

According to her, several hours later, passengers were still at the baggage claim area without access to their luggage, hotel arrangements, or adequate updates.

She noted that elderly passengers and families were particularly affected, describing the situation as exhausting and distressing.

The actress called on the airline to release passengers’ luggage and fulfill its promise of providing hotel accommodation.

In response, Air Peace apologised for the inconvenience, explaining that the disruption was caused by factors beyond its control and reiterating its commitment to passenger safety.

The airline added that efforts were ongoing to assist affected travellers, although there was no confirmation at the time of reporting that the issues had been fully resolved.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
