FUNKE AKINDELE’S ‘FAKE BUTT’ STIRS ONLINE BUZZ AHEAD OF NEW MOVIE RELEASE
Nollywood superstar Funke Akindele has recently set social media abuzz—not for a red-carpet look, award, or dance challenge—but for stepping out with a dramatically curvy silhouette, leaving fans speculating about possible cosmetic enhancements.
Videos capturing the actress flaunting exaggerated hips and a fuller backside quickly went viral, prompting double takes from followers.
In one Instagram clip, Akindele confidently showcased her new figure, fueling rumors that she had joined the growing list of celebrities altering their bodies.
However, the transformation is all part of her latest film project.
In the video, Akindele appears in a chic, understated outfit while strutting with an enhanced figure. Speaking in character as Adetutu Fernandez, she quips, “Hello, beautiful people. My name is Adetutu Fernandez. Do you love my body? I will spend anything to be beautiful. I spent a fortune to get my body done.”
The “new body” is part of a promotional campaign for her upcoming movie, Behind The Scenes, where she portrays a woman with what she describes as “the body of a goddess.”
Although the transformation initially fooled many fans, Akindele has embraced the joke while ramping up excitement for the film. She recently posted, “Detutu Fernandez sure got the body of a goddess. Clock it if you’re loving her body.”
As part of the movie build-up, Akindele revealed her star-studded cast, including Scarlet Gomez, Wandi, Handi, Uche Montana, Tobi Bakare, Ini Dima, Mr Macaroni, Uzor Arukwe, Ibrahim Chatta, and Iyabo Ojo, alongside a themed runway video.
Her comically exaggerated figure has also sparked playful reactions from colleagues in the industry. Actor Deyemi joked, “This one na Akowonjo BBL!” Mo Bimpe added, “Mama! Hipsy funky.” Bisola commented, “Aunty Funke, these hips are speaking volumes.”
Blessing Obasi remarked, “Hips na water,” while Broda Shaggi teased, “Fresh out of booty from Doctor Shaggi and Nurse Kiekie. Please tag us, ma’am, so people can patronise us. Best BBL in Lagos.” Janemena also chimed in, saying, “This hip is so hipsy, momma.”
