The Ghana Police Service has arrested eight Nigerian nationals during a security operation targeting suspected drug trafficking and violent criminal activities across parts of the country.

According to authorities in the Ghana, the suspects were picked up following coordinated raids carried out in identified hotspots linked to drug distribution and other offences.

Police said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal drug trade and improve public safety in communities affected by rising crime concerns.

Items suspected to be connected to drug peddling were reportedly recovered during the raids, while investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects’ involvement.

Security officials noted that all individuals arrested will be processed in line with Ghanaian law, and further action will depend on the outcome of investigations.

The police also urged residents to support law enforcement efforts by providing credible information that could help dismantle criminal networks operating within the country.

Authorities say intensified operations against drug-related crimes and violent offences will continue across affected regions.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
