GHANAIAN FOOTBALLER KILLED IN ARMED ROBBERY ATTACK
A Ghanaian Premier League player, Dominic Frimpong, has been killed following an armed robbery attack on his team.
The incident occurred as players of Berekum Chelsea FC were returning from an away match when gunmen ambushed their bus.
According to police, the attack happened along the Ahyiresu–Kwame Dwumor Sreso road in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, with armed assailants opening fire and forcing players to flee into nearby bushes.
Frimpong sustained gunshot injuries during the нападение and later died in the hospital while receiving treatment.
Police also confirmed that another victim, George Owusu Afriyie, was robbed during the incident.
The Ghana Football Association described the incident as tragic, noting that Frimpong was a promising young talent whose loss is a major blow to Ghanaian football.
The 20-year-old forward had recently joined Berekum Chelsea on loan from Aduana Stars FC and had made 13 appearances, scoring two goals.
Authorities have launched investigations into the attack as concerns grow over security on highways.
