GOD FIRST, THEN TINUBU – UMAHI DECLARES HIS LOYALTY
Minister of Works, David Umahi, has stated that his primary allegiance is to God, followed by his loyalty to President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking to journalists in Abakaliki on Monday, Umahi responded to the President’s recent praise for his efforts in infrastructure development. He emphasized that he takes directives solely from God and the President.
“The President’s commendation means more to me than a trillion dollars,” Umahi said. “It confirms I’m on the right path and that prayers are being answered.”
He reiterated his commitment, saying, “I’ve publicly told the President that my loyalty is first to God, and then to him. When someone shows you the kind of trust President Tinubu has shown me, betraying that trust would not only be wrong but sinful.”
Umahi warned that anyone who betrays such a level of confidence would incur divine wrath.
“Imagine overseeing a project valued at N1.6 trillion without your superior questioning your process. That shows profound trust,” he remarked, referring to a specific section of the project based on its scale.
The minister added, “Each day, I pray that if I ever place myself, my family, or my friends above God, the President, or the Nigerian people, may my prayers go unanswered.”
Umahi pledged continued support and prayers for Tinubu and all who believe in and encourage his mission.
“I also acknowledge those who have supported me in my service to the nation,” he said.
He revealed that around 30 major infrastructure projects are expected to be completed and inaugurated by December 20, putting contractors under significant pressure to deliver.
“I am fully involved in supervising and inspecting projects across all six geopolitical zones of the country,” he concluded.
