GOOGLE SEEKS DIALOGUE AS FG PROBES TECH GIANTS

Google has expressed willingness to engage in dialogue with the Federal Government as the authorities intensify investigations into the operations of major technology companies in Nigeria.

The search engine giant, through its representatives, indicated openness to discussions on issues ranging from data privacy, content regulation, tax obligations, and fair competition. The move comes amid a broader probe into tech firms including Meta and AI platforms.

A government spokesperson confirmed that channels for engagement have been opened to ensure a mutually beneficial outcome. “We welcome constructive dialogue with all stakeholders,” the official said.

The development is seen as an attempt by Google to maintain a positive working relationship with Nigerian authorities while addressing regulatory concerns.

The probe is part of efforts to ensure compliance with local laws and protect national interests in the digital space.
