Gov Bago Calls For Support For Mokwa Flood Victims During Sallah
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has called on Nigerians—particularly residents of the state—to extend compassion and support to victims of the recent flood in Mokwa Local Government Area as they observe this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.
In his Sallah message, Governor Bago expressed that this year’s celebration is marked by sorrow, as the state continues to mourn the tragic loss of lives and destruction of property worth millions of naira caused by the flood.
He emphasized that Eid-el-Kabir should inspire Muslims to reflect on the values of sacrifice, empathy, obedience, and unwavering faith in Allah—qualities he believes are especially needed now to bring solace and encouragement to those affected by the disaster.
According to a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the Governor offered heartfelt prayers and condolences to the victims’ families and pledged that his administration would continue to provide support and take proactive steps to prevent similar disasters.
Governor Bago also encouraged citizens to take advantage of this sacred period to pray for the peaceful repose of those who lost their lives, and for comfort and strength for the survivors and the state as a whole.
“My heart is truly heavy,” the Governor said. “But in the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir, I pray Allah accepts our sacrifices and supplications, and continues to bless our state with peace, protection, and prosperity.”
