The governor of Katsina, Dikko Umar Radda, has expressed deep sorrow following a fatal road crash that claimed 12 lives along the Kano–Katsina highway.

The tragic accident reportedly occurred when multiple vehicles collided, leading to significant casualties and injuries along the busy inter-state route.

In a condolence message, the governor described the incident as heartbreaking and extended sympathies to the families of the victims, praying for the repose of the deceased.

He also urged motorists to exercise caution, adhere to traffic regulations, and avoid reckless driving, especially on major highways known for heavy traffic flow.

Emergency responders were said to have arrived at the scene to evacuate victims and clear the wreckage, while survivors were taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

Authorities are expected to carry out further investigations to determine the exact cause of the crash.

The incident adds to growing concerns over road safety on major highways across northern Nigeria, where fatal accidents remain frequent.
