Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has explained why state governors recently gathered in Lagos to meet with President Bola Tinubu.

Sule said the meeting was primarily held to brief the president on urgent security concerns facing various states and to strategise ahead of the upcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention.

Speaking on the sidelines of an investiture event in Abuja, the governor said the gathering of governors was an opportunity to coordinate actions on rising security challenges across the country and ensure unity among the states ahead of key party activities.

The meeting in Lagos brought together APC governors, who are working through the Progressives Governors’ Forum to align strategies on party affairs, including preparations for the party’s national convention and discussions on governance priorities.

Governors arrived in Lagos over the weekend for the strategy session, which was also seen as a means to foster stronger collaboration among state leaders and the presidency on national issues.

The APC governors’ meeting comes amid ongoing discussions within the ruling party as it prepares for future political engagements and continues to address security and development challenges across their states.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
