Actress Grace-Charis Bassey, formerly known as Belinda Effah, has opened up about how she maintains her youthful appearance at 41. Celebrating her 41st birthday recently, she credited her radiant look to a consistently healthy and balanced lifestyle.

In an interview, Bassey emphasized the spiritual foundation of her well-being. “First, all glory to God. I cannot take credit for my appearance because life itself is a gift from Him. I nurture and cherish it, knowing that my body is the temple of God,” she said.

She also highlighted the importance of a mindful diet in maintaining her youthful glow. “I pay close attention to what I eat. I’m not a sweet tooth, so I avoid chocolates and pastries. I regularly monitor myself, and if I notice any extra weight, I take immediate steps to manage it,” she shared, adding that regular exercise is a key part of her routine.

Reflecting on her Nollywood career, Bassey expressed pride in every phase, particularly the early years marked by uncertainty and perseverance. She explained that the long wait for success shaped her character and outlook on life. “It taught me not to take anything for granted. When I eventually started landing roles, I knew I had to remain appreciative and humble. It required patience and sacrifice—going out each day without knowing if you’d secure a role, spending money you didn’t have, carrying disappointment with dignity, and holding onto hope,” she said.

Bassey also described the emotional challenges of her journey, including watching others get roles she felt ready for. “You encourage yourself, believing that your time will come. You celebrate others’ successes, even when it hasn’t happened for you. You find strength in broken moments, wipe your silent tears, and put on your best smile without anyone knowing the depth of your struggles,” she added.
