Marseille secured a return to the Champions League after defeating Le Havre 3-1 on Saturday in Ligue 1. Mason Greenwood was the star of the match, scoring a powerful late goal to give Marseille the lead, while Amine Gouiri sealed the win with a second goal in stoppage time. The victory ensured that Marseille finished in the top three, with one round of the season remaining.

The match was interrupted for nearly 30 minutes in the second half due to unrest caused by Marseille supporters in the home sections of the stadium. When play resumed, Le Havre managed to equalize through Issa Soumare, but Greenwood’s long-range strike with five minutes left restored Marseille’s lead. Gouiri’s second goal put the result beyond doubt.

Marseille’s coach, Roberto De Zerbi, expressed his joy after the match, celebrating with his players and fans. Reflecting on the achievement, De Zerbi highlighted the club’s progress, noting their reduced budget and the fact they had finished eighth the previous season. Despite spending less than their direct rivals, Marseille earned their Champions League return, something they last achieved a decade ago.

Meanwhile, Monaco also secured their spot in next season’s Champions League with a 2-0 victory over Lyon. Takumi Minamino and Denis Zakaria found the net in the second half to hand Monaco the win, sealing their place among Europe’s elite for another season. Monaco had already made it to the knockout stages of this year’s Champions League and will now look to build on that success.

Lyon’s defeat dealt a major blow to their hopes of qualifying for Europe, leaving them in seventh place, three points behind Nice, Lille, and Strasbourg, all of whom lost over the weekend. With one game left, the race for the final Champions League spot remains wide open, with Lyon still in contention.

Elsewhere, PSG, who have already clinched the Ligue 1 title, comfortably beat Montpellier 4-1. Senny Mayulu opened the scoring for the champions, before Gonçalo Ramos scored a second-half hat-trick, including a penalty and a spectacular strike from the edge of the area. Montpellier pulled one back through Tanguy Coulibaly, but it was too little, too late.

In the relegation battle, Saint-Etienne kept their survival hopes alive with a 2-0 win over Reims. The result leaves them just one point behind Le Havre in the relegation play-off spot. Le Havre, Nantes, and Reims are still at risk of relegation, with all eyes on the final round of matches.

Other notable results saw Rennes beat Nice 2-0, with Arnaud Kalimuendo scoring both goals, Brest overcoming Lille 2-0, and Angers defeating Strasbourg 2-1. Toulouse and Lens played out a 1-1 draw.

In Ligue 2, Lorient were crowned champions, finishing ahead of Paris FC, who also earned promotion to Ligue 1.
