GRENADE EXPLOSION KILLS THREE CHILDREN IN BORNO COMMUNITY
Tragedy hit Pulka town in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State on Thursday when a grenade explosion claimed the lives of three children.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama, who shared the news on X, said the victims — Fati Dahiru, Aisha Ibrahim, and Fati Yakubu — were playing with the explosive device around 2:20 p.m. when it went off. The grenade is suspected to have been left behind by Boko Haram insurgents.
A joint team of Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD-CBRN) experts, troops from Operation Hadin Kai, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members, and local hunters quickly arrived at the scene. They secured the area and searched for other dangerous devices but found none, declaring the environment safe.
The injured children were rushed to General Hospital, Gwoza, where doctors sadly confirmed them dead. Their bodies were later released to their families for burial according to Islamic rites.
Authorities are urging residents to immediately report any suspicious objects to security agencies to prevent similar tragedies.
