GROUP ENDORSES EBONYI WORKS COMMISSIONER FOR REPS
A socio-political youth organisation in the South-East, the Coalition of South-East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), has endorsed the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Works, Lebechi Mbam, for the Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
The group announced its support in a statement on Tuesday, describing Mbam as a competent and youthful candidate with the experience and integrity needed to represent the constituency effectively at the National Assembly.
According to COSEYL President-General, Chief Goodluck Ibem, Mbam stood out among other aspirants following a review of candidates across different political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group said his background in public service, including his role as former Special Assistant on Works and current Commissioner for Works, demonstrated his capacity to deliver infrastructural development and grassroots impact.
It further noted that Mbam’s track record of public service, as well as his engagement in community support initiatives, positioned him as a strong candidate capable of driving development and legislative representation for the area.
COSEYL urged Governor Francis Nwifuru and other stakeholders in Ebonyi State to support Mbam’s candidacy, adding that he represents a younger generation of leadership aligned with modern governance expectations.
The group said his emergence would strengthen representation for Abakaliki and Izzi people in the Green Chamber and enhance development at the grassroots level.
The endorsement comes amid growing political activity in the constituency, where the current lawmaker, Hon. Emmanuel Uguru, has faced criticism from some constituents over alleged underperformance and limited engagement.
As political alignments continue ahead of the 2027 elections, stakeholders in the constituency are expected to intensify consultations and mobilisations in the coming months.
