GROUP URGES CONFIRMATION OF GOMBE COMMISSIONER-DESIGNATE’S APPOINTMENT

A Gombe political group operating under the aegis of Shamaki Ward, Gombe Local Government Area Concerned Citizens, on Monday, commended the nomination of Ibrahim Turaki as a commissioner-designate by Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, describing him as a man of integrity, credibility and selfless service.

In a statement made available to newsmen , the group stated that Turaki’s nomination reflected the confidence reposed in him by the governor and acknowledged his contributions to public service and grassroots development.

According to the group, “Ibrahim Shehu Turaki stands as one of the emerging credible voices in the public service landscape of Gombe State. His recent nomination as a commissioner by His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, is a clear testament to a life built on service, loyalty and commitment to the development of Gombe State.”

The group noted that Turaki was nominated alongside two other indigenes of Gombe Local Government Area, adding that his selection demonstrated the administration’s belief in his ability to contribute to policy formulation and governance.

The statement also highlighted his family background, describing him as the son of the late Dankaden Gombe, Alhaji Shehu Turaki, whom it credited with philanthropy and contributions to the creation of Gombe State.

“The contributions of Alhaji Shehu Turaki in the struggle for the creation of Gombe State cannot be overemphasised. As one of the frontline stakeholders and community mobilisers, Dankaden Gombe stood firm, rallied support and invested personal resources to ensure that the dream of a Gombe became a reality,” the statement stressed.

It added that Ibrahim Shehu Turaki inherited his father’s values of service, humility and commitment to community development.

The group further pointed to his traditional title of Wakilin Gombe, saying it was evidence of the confidence reposed in him by the Gombe Emirate and the people.

“As Wakilin Gombe, he has continued to serve as a bridge between the people and the traditional institution. He is known for his accessibility, calm disposition and ability to mediate and unite divergent interests,” the statement further read in parts.

The concerned citizens also described Turaki as “a loyal party man and team player” who had built a reputation for consistency, sincerity and dedication to the ideals of the All Progressives Congress.

It expressed the optimism that if confirmed by the Gombe State House of Assembly, the commissioner-designate would bring humility, diligence and people-centred leadership to the State Executive Council.

“In Ibrahim Shehu Turaki, Gombe State has a nominee who embodies continuity of good values, respect for tradition and commitment to modern governance. His personality reflects service without noise, leadership without arrogance and credibility without compromise,” the statement added.
