Three students of the Federal University of Lafia have been abducted by unidentified gunmen at a students’ lodge on the outskirts of Lafia, with police confirming that one of the victims has been rescued.

According to the Nasarawa State Police Command, the incident occurred at about 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday when a distress call was received from the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the Federal University of Lafia, reporting that three students residing at Living Seed Lodge, located in a bushy area on the outskirts of the students’ residential community, had been kidnapped by unknown assailants.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, who confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday, said police operatives responded immediately to the distress call and launched a coordinated search operation in the surrounding forest.

He said the swift response by the operatives led to the rescue of one of the abducted students, while efforts have been intensified to secure the release of the two remaining victims still in captivity.

According to the police spokesman, “Upon receipt of the report, police operatives responded immediately and commenced a coordinated search of the surrounding forest. Their swift response led to the rescue of one of the victims.

Meanwhile, intensive efforts are ongoing to secure the safe rescue of the remaining victims in captivity, in line with the directives of the Commissioner of Police.”

The command assured members of the public that every available resource is being deployed to ensure the safe rescue of the remaining students and urged residents to remain calm while providing useful information that could assist the ongoing operation.
