Terror on Taraba Road as Six Passengers Kidnapped, Others Robbed

Fear gripped travelers on Sunday morning after gunmen attacked a commercial bus along the Takum–Katsina Ala Road in Taraba State, abducting six people and robbing others of their valuables.

The incident happened near Kampo Village when about six armed men intercepted a Toyota Hummer bus (registration number SDA 61 XB) belonging to Dan Pullo Transport Company. The vehicle, which was on its way from Rivers State to Gembu, was forced off the road and driven into the bush by the assailants.

According to the driver, Aliyu Umar, the attackers took phones, ATM cards, cash, and other belongings from passengers. They also demanded ATM PINs, and those who refused—or gave false ones—were abducted. Among the kidnapped are five women (four from Gembu and one from Jalingo) and the male bus conductor.

While the remaining passengers were released with the bus, the six victims were taken to an unknown location. Security teams, including police patrol units, local hunters, and operatives from the Area Command, have since combed the surrounding forests but are yet to locate them.

Authorities say efforts are ongoing to rescue the abducted passengers and track down the gunmen behind the attack.

This latest incident adds to growing concerns over highway insecurity in parts of northern Nigeria, where travelers remain at risk from armed bandits and kidnappers.
