GUNMEN KILL FOUR IN PLATEAU COMMUNITY
Four people were reportedly killed when gunmen attacked Sabon Angwa community, near Bet/Zat in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, on Thursday night.
Residents said the attackers arrived at about 8pm and opened fire, causing panic despite a curfew imposed in parts of the state to curb violence.
A resident, Bulus Jok, said the gunmen shot sporadically during the attack. He also alleged that an early warning had been sent to the relevant authorities a day before the incident.
“The incident is very sad, especially as there had been an early warning alert sent to the relevant authorities,” he said.
The Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, Rwang Tengwong, also reported that four residents had been shot dead.
Condemning the killings, Tengwong expressed concern that communities remained vulnerable despite existing security measures.
He urged security agencies to increase their presence, strengthen surveillance and respond promptly to warnings of possible attacks.
Security officials could not be reached for further details at the time of the report.
