GUNMEN KILL SIX IN LATE-NIGHT ATTACK ON PLATEAU VILLAGE
At least six people lost their lives in a late-night attack on Ikn’gwakap community, Mushere Chiefdom, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, on Sunday.
According to residents, the armed men stormed the village around midnight, shooting indiscriminately and setting houses ablaze before escaping.
Kutyil Gashion Nahum, National Publicity Secretary of the Mushere Youth Movement, confirmed the incident in a Monday statement. He described the assault as “brutal and senseless,” adding that some villagers remained missing.
“On the night of Sunday, 14th September, about six innocent persons, including women and children, were murdered in their sleep in Ikn’gwakap. It is alarming and unacceptable that despite repeated attacks on Mushere communities, not a single perpetrator has been arrested,” he said.
Nahum faulted what he called the government’s inability to safeguard lives and property, urging authorities to urgently revamp the security system in the area.
“The people of Garga and surrounding communities are living in constant fear. Our leaders must take immediate and concrete steps to ensure safety and security,” he added.
Some of the victims’ remains were reportedly found in the Wanka forest area on Monday morning.
