Tragedy struck in Zamfara State on Sunday night as armed bandits ambushed and killed two operatives of the Mobile Police Force (MOPOL) in Tsafe town.

According to security sources, the attack happened along the Yankuzo road, on the outskirts of Tsafe. The officers, who were on duty at the time, came under heavy gunfire and were killed instantly.

The assailants reportedly fled into the nearby forest after the assault, leaving behind grief and tension in the community. Security reinforcements have since been deployed to the area to restore calm and track down the attackers.

The latest incident highlights the persistent security challenges facing Zamfara, a state that has been heavily affected by banditry in recent years.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement, but residents of Tsafe remain on edge as they await further updates on the security situation.
