Suspected gunmen have killed a woman and her daughter at a poultry farm in Igushi community near Akure, Ondo State.

 

The attack, which occurred on Thursday, also led to the abduction of three workers at the farm.

 

According to community sources, the assailants. reportedly about five in numbergained access to the premises by scaling the fence before attempting to kidnap workers. In the process, they shot and killed the farm owner and her daughter.

 

A resident said the attackers later fled with three victims, prompting a swift response from security operatives.

 

The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident, noting that two kidnapped victims were rescued through a coordinated operation involving security agencies.

 

Police spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh condemned the attack, describing it as heinous and expressing condolences over the loss of lives.

 

He assured residents that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators and that adequate security measures had been deployed to protect lives and property.

 

The police also urged residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely information.]

 

The incident adds to growing security concerns in communities around Akure, where residents have repeatedly called for increased protection against rising cases of attacks and abductions.
