Suspected armed attackers, carrying firearms and cutlasses, stormed the family home of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in Obeiba-Ihima, Kogi State’s Okehi LGA, in the early hours of Tuesday, April 15.

Counter-terrorism analyst Zagazola Makama revealed the attack on Thursday through his X (formerly Twitter) account, noting that it took place around 1:00 a.m.

Makama in his tweet, stated, “At least three armed individuals stormed the premises, vandalising the building and shattering windowpanes.”

Per intelligence sources mentioned by Makama, Yakubu Ovanja, the primary security aide to the senator, had notified local law enforcement about the assault.

Okehi Division police units mobilized rapidly following a 1:00 a.m. distress call Tuesday when armed assailants stormed Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan's Ihima residence. While the attack left no casualties, investigators have cordoned off the scene as forensic operations begin.

Current situation:

Security forces maintain heightened vigilance across the region as investigations continue. Authorities have issued a fresh appeal urging citizens to immediately report any unusual movements.

Meanwhile, the Kogi Central senator, a vocal opposition figure known for always speaking up, has not issued any statement regarding the security breach.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
